Please get the Allan Bloom translations of BOTH The Republic and Emile. They are not dry at all. (I still have Part 5 of Emile to read but will slog through the sexism of that particular part one of these days)
Fascinating. I haven't had a son, but my two daughters had their own distinct ways of learning and being in the world. The kid may have his own ideas. But I do like the idea of exposing him to some of the best thoughts and thinkers of the pre-modern era.
